SooOOo...I speced protection this morning. With 5/5 in anticipation, and 5/5 in deflection from the ret tree. Without any skills i run the avoidance macro and i sit at 65.48 combined avoidance, when i pop holy sheild which is all about the block... i jump to 100.81 avoidance (nearly uncrushable) there is no reason why when tanking you should not be able to keep holy sheild up every time its avail. Which should cover you through from when you last put it on, till putting it up again. When i hit trinks, 107.8 avoidance.... totally uncrushable.
with 511 defense, and with 15k armor. 13k raid buffed health. Seemingly its all about the dodge, so make gear choices that refect boosting your dodge up as much as you can. I still need to get up about 2 or 3 points before i would consider tanking anything major. I want to see my avoidance up over 102 without reliance on trinkets since they are on a longer cooldown and wont cover me all the time to block those crushing blows.
